Dutch referee Bjorn Kuipers will officiate the UEFA EURO 2020 Final between Italy and England, with German Bastian Dankert as the VAR, and it’s his second Italy-England.

The Final kicks off at Wembley Stadium on Sunday at 20.00 UK time.

Kuipers has been assigned to the big match, assisted by Sander van Roekel and Erwin Zeinstra.

The VAR will be German Bastian Dankert, assisted by Pol van Boekel of the Netherlands and Germans Christian Gittelmann and Marco Fritz.

The fourth official on the touchline will be Spain’s Carlos del Cerro Grande.

Kuipers is a 48-year-old who has already officiated one meeting between these nations, the 2014 World Cup group stage, which saw Italy beat England 2-1.

Claudio Marchisio and Mario Balotelli got the goals for the Azzurri, around a temporary Daniel Sturridge equaliser.

His other Italy games were less impressive, a 1-1 draw with Croatia in November 2014, a 3-1 home friendly defeat to France in September 2016 and 3-0 loss away to Spain in September 2017.

Including club sides, Italy’s record with Kuipers is seven wins, 12 draws and 10 defeats.

As for England, after that 2014 World Cup defeat, they experienced a 2-0 win over Sweden in the 2018 tournament and 2-1 victory against Poland in the Euro qualifiers in March 2021.

Including club football, the English record with Kuipers is 20 wins, seven stalemates and only seven defeats.
