New Fiorentina signing Jakub Błaszczykowski is grateful for the faith the club has shown in him.
The attacking midfielder made just 17 Bundesliga starts for Borussia Dortmund over the last two seasons, as he struggled with a series of injuries.
The Polish international switched to the Viola on deadline day in an initial loan deal, and is grateful for the opportunity for a new start.
“I’d first like to thank Fiorentina, because they’ve shown faith in me,” Błaszczykowski said at his presentation Press conference.

“I hope I can prove my worth on the pitch. I wanted to move club, and Fiorentina were the one who showed the most concrete interest in me and tried for the longest time.
“Now it’s up to me to prove my worth. Ultimately what I need most is to play. I’ve definitely not played very much, but I feel good.
“I’m ready to feature in games, I feel ready.
“Injuries? I had a knee injury which compromised my season, then during the last pre-season I had a muscular problem. Then I decided to start a new adventure.
“I don’t know the city [Florence] very well, but I’m very aware of Fiorentina because of Gabriel Batistuta, who was a great player.
“I’ll work to learn Italian, for now all I know is ‘buona sera’ and ‘forza Viola’.”
