Mateo Kovacic is reportedly close to agreeing a new Inter contract until June 2019 after his entourage was spotted in the company of Piero Ausilio.

The Croatian midfielder’s current deal expires in three years’ time, but according to Gianluca Di Marzio’s website, the Nerazzurri are desperate to tie down the 20-year-old to a new contract.

It is reported that Kovacic’s entourage met with club sporting director Ausilio today for a second time in Milan’s Bulgari hotel to discuss terms over a renewal.

Talks are thought to have been productive, and the groundwork to a new five-year contract is now thought to be in place, with details now to define.

Kovacic joined Inter from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2013 and has scored five goals in 10 appearances so far this season.
