Mateo Kovacic says ‘you can’t say no to Real Madrid’ and backs Inter to win Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina.
The Croatia international departed San Siro for the Spanish giants earlier this summer for around €35m, but says he hopes to encounter his former team in next season’s Champions League.
“Real Madrid are one of the few teams in the world that you can’t say no to,” the 21-year-old told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Real Madrid are one of the few teams in the world that you can’t say no to,” the 21-year-old told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“In the end a solution was found that made all the parties happy. Every footballer dreams of playing for Real, for me it’s happened when I’m 21 and I consider myself very lucky.
“I know that it’ll be hard to nail down a starting place, but I’m sure that I will manage to.
“I was sorry to leave Milan. Everything happened in such a hurry. Even though putting lots of good players together takes time, I’m sure that Inter will have a great season.
“I hope to meet Inter again in the Champions League in 12 months. At the start of the season everyone was optimistic and the start my ex-teammates have had justifies the enthusiasm of the Nerazzurri fans.
“There is a lot of competition for places and the road is very long, but I hope with all my heart that Inter will do it.
“I would’ve wanted to play in the derby so badly, but I’m sure Inter will win. Jovetic’s start to the season hasn’t surprised me – I knew that he is a great player who can make the difference at any moment.”
