There are growing reports in Italy that Manchester City will raise their Kalidou Koulibaly bid to €70m plus bonuses, so Napoli can buy Gabriel from Lille, beating Arsenal.

According to various sources, including Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, Calciomercato.com, La Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport, Manchester City have alerted Napoli that their next proposal will be a winning one.

While the player’s entourage tell RAI Sport the offer hasn’t come in yet, that is already known, as it is on the way over the next 48 hours.

This will be worth €70m plus €5-6m in bonuses, close enough to the €80m asking price to get the go-ahead.

It is significantly higher than the €63m plus bonuses that was rejected earlier this month.

Koulibaly could also receive €9m per season for a four-year contract, as negotiated by agent and intermediary Fali Ramadani.

The reason for Napoli accepting a lower fee is that they cannot buy Gabriel from Lille until Koulibaly has first been sold.

Arsenal are in there for the Brazilian, but Lille have a gentleman’s agreement with Napoli to sell the centre-back, having already done business for another Arsenal target, striker Victor Osimhen.

There is a deadline for Gabriel, believed by the Corriere dello Sport to be August 27.
