Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly is furious after the racial abuse in Florence and the Partenopei will reportedly stop playing if another incident occurs in the future.

The Senegal international hit back against Fiorentina fans at the Artemio Franchi last weekend, when Kouliably, Zambo Anguissa and Victor Osimhen were targeted by racial abuse in Florence.

Koulibaly racially abused: ‘Identify them and keep them out of the stadiums’

Should the racial abuse continue during games, La Repubblica reports Napoli don’t exclude stopping in the middle of the match as a protest against racism in stadiums.

Since fans returned to the stands, there have been some serious episodes in Serie A in 2021-22, only seven games into the new campaign.

Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan was targeted at the Allianz Stadium and the Viola striker Dusan Vlahovic had a difficult time in Bergamo during the match against Atalanta.

Napoli could decide to stop playing should the racial abuse continue during games, believing that such a gesture would open a more in-depth discussion on the problem in Italian football.

  1. But racist chants is unacceptable. Italians should behave properly. This is absolutely disgusting that this happens in 21st century and still being justified by some Italians.

  2. Can’t believe that comment is still up. Idiotic.

    Napoli should stop in the middle of the game when it happens again. Might make people like Francis think with their entire brain.

  3. Leave the comment up, and let this idiot, and all those like him, get abused on boards like this one…

    Stop the games immediately when this kind of stupidity begins. The players should walk off the field and NOT return. Game over. Everyone else has to go home too. Only when you hit the teams, and the league, in the pocketbook will anything ever get done.

  4. Football Italia admin team, how on earth is @francis’ comment still on this site?

    @francis, educate yourself mate.

  5. Why was my comment removed? I just wanted to ask @Francis who he was referring to when he wrote “these people” make too much of a big deal out of being called f*cking monkeys.

  6. Francis, if you are Italian, they suffered horrid racist abuse in Mississippi in the late 19th century. You have no idea how it feels like being treated this way! This insensitivity to racism has to change from top to down in 21st century!

  7. Shouldn’t just be Napoli that walk off the pitch. Want to make a statement, have both teams walk off until the offenders are kicked out of the stadium. I love seeing the fans back, but the experience cannot be marred by humanoids trying to pass themselves as fans.

  8. @Basta Poco Absolutely! Both teams, both sets of coaching staff, the officials, everyone. And make a big deal of it too so no one is left in doubt as to why it happened. You will soon see the actual fans turning on these fools and sorting it amongst themselves.
