Kalidou Koulibaly, Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne took to social media to celebrate Napoli‘s Scudetto.
All three players have made history in Naples but left the Stadio Maradona last summer. Koulibaly joined Chelsea for €30m while Mertens and Insigne moved to Galatasaray and Toronto FC, respectively, on a free transfer.
Despite leaving the club, they still have a strong bond with Napoli and their fans and were quick to join celebrations on social media on Thursday night, after a 1-1 draw at the Dacia Arena.
Koulibaly shared Napoli’s Instagram post in his stories, adding clapping emojis. Mertens used the video of Napoli’s dressing room celebrations, writing: ‘So proud,’ while Insigne had a message for his former teammates: ‘Thank you guys.’
Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti had praised all of them during a pre-match press conference on Wednesday, saying that they have all played a key role in this season’s title, although they are no longer part of the team.
