Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has hinted a potential exit from the club could be on the cards, saying: I would only leave on my terms.

The Senegal international has been one of the best defenders in Europe in recent seasons and has regularly been linked with a move away.

That move has never materialised but Koulibaly said if he ever did leave, it would not be because he pushed for a transfer.

Koulibaly told Onze Mondial: “I would not cause an argument to leave the club. If I ever did leave Napoli, I would do it on my terms.

“There would be no argument and I would speak to the president. He tries to listen to the fans who don’t want me go and every time has asked for a fee that was too high.”

Koulibaly joined Napoli from Genk in 2014 and soon established himself as one of the finest defenders on the continent.

He excelled in particular during Maurizio Sarri’s time as Napoli manager and came close to helping the club win the Scudetto on two occasions, while he did win the Coppa Italia under the guidance of Gennaro Gattuso in 2014.

Meanwhile, Koulibaly also spoke about incidents of racism which have tainted his time in Italy and called on people within football to continue the fight against the problem.

He said: “A world without racism would be a better place.”
