Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly reportedly hit back at a group of Fiorentina fans who had racially abused him after the Artemio Franchi clash.

CalcioNapoli24 correspondent Claudio Russo reports Fiorentina fans targeted Kalidou Koulibaly, Victor Osimhen and Zambo Anguissa with racist insults after the Napoli’s 2-1 win over the Tuscans.

Koulibaly heard a few of them shouting ‘monkey’ and after the post-match interview he gave to DAZN, he reportedly faced Fiorentina fans telling them: ‘Come here and tell me.’

Unfortunately, this is not the first time Koulibaly receives racist insults in Serie A stadiums.

There have been several similar incidents since the start of the season, with many other players involved.

Lazio fans targeted Milan‘s Franck Kessié and Tiemoue Bakayoko in September and the same is true of Dusan Vlahovic, who was racially abused by Atalanta fans when La Viola travelled to Bergamo to face La Dea.

Napoli have maintained their perfect start in Serie A with seven wins from seven games.

  1. Shame for Serie A, Italy, and football. Why does this happen so frequently and why aren’t the authorities doing things to end this? Just pathetic how many times so many players have been targeted in Serie A, and so many teams, over and over again.

  2. disgraceful, fiorentina needs to punish these fans severely like juventus did. unacceptable in this day and age. forza napoli sempre

  3. Football is just a mirror of society so to speak about this as a football problem is wrong.
It’s has to start in the Italian society to condemn an change the attitude of the people , all Italians ,then and only then the attitude and the chants at the stadium will change.

  4. That’s gonna take a while. In the meantime, identify the idiots and either arrest or ban them. I guarantee you it will soon stop.

  5. @Ollie Wood It’s strange how when these things happened in Serie A you guys make it look like Italy is the worst but when it happens in somewhere else especially EPL we only talk about it briefly.

  6. Couple of months ago some club form the ESL and we had some fans trooping the street threatening to turn the clubs apart, we had UEFA executives pleading and ready to kill the clubs owner, if these hoodlums called fans and the UEFA apply half of the efforts and strength they used to destroy the ESL on the racist in football issues it would have been eradicated but NO they would rather spend their time and strength on attacking Agnelli and Perez.

  7. @Ayodele Ralph Palmer. If anything like this happens in EPL, people face actual consequences. All leagues (including EPL) are really bad in handling these problems. Serie A is my favourite league but I have already heard of 4-55 racist incidents whereas in EPL its hardly two. EPL certainly is more strict in this regard, like it or not.
