Barcelona have reportedly made Napoli defender Kalidou Kouliabaly their transfer priority for the summer, but the Partenopei want at least €40m to sell the experienced defender.

According to AS in Spain, the Catalans have made contact with Koulibaly’s agent to sound out his availability to move to the Nou Camp over the summer.

Xavi is an admirer of the Senegal international who sees his contract expire in June 2023. According to the report, the player’s representative Fali Ramadini has informed Barcelona that Napoli’s asking price for their star defender is €40m.

Preliminary contacts between the two clubs haven’t been favourable for Barcelona, but the defender is reportedly open to moving to the Nou Camp, where he would sign a contract until 2026. Koulibaly is seen as the perfect heir to 35-year-old Gerard Piqué, who has a contract until 2024.

The La Liga giants have already signed Andreas Christensen as a free agent from Chelsea, but they are planning one more investment to strengthen their defence for 2022-23.

  1. This doesn’t make much sense. They already have Araujo, who is similar to KK as in he likes to get higher up the pitch. What barcelona need is someone to stay back a bit more, a type like Sule, Rrahmani, Chiellini.

  2. Already signed Christiansen from Chelsea …Koulibaly next nice move Barca 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏
