Kalidou Koulibaly insists Napoli should be content with their 0-0 draw away to Roma. ‘This result is not to be underestimated.’

Victor Osimhen clipped the woodwork twice at the Stadio Olimpico, but the run of eight wins out of eight came to an end in the Capital.

“It’s a good point, we came here knowing Roma wanted a reaction to Thursday’s defeat and had their fans behind them,” Koulibaly told DAZN.

“We mustn’t diminish Roma’s potential, so we can be happy with the point and that we kept a clean sheet. This result is not to be underestimated.

“The important thing is to keep a clean sheet, because we know that we are capable of scoring a goal at any moment.

“Not everyone can come here and keep a clean sheet against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, so we must continue working like this and with growing confidence.”

Koulibaly hailed the work-rate of his Napoli teammates and the ability to keep churning out results between Serie A and the Europa League, although they are caught at the top by Milan.

“All the players work hard for the team, there are no egotists in this team and we must continue like this. Now the opponents will all want to take points off us and approach in a more defensive fashion, so we’ve got to keep going.

“We’ll see where we are in March or April, for now we have to keep taking it one game at a time.”

Koulibaly ended the game wearing the captain’s armband, because Lorenzo Insigne was substituted.

“It is a great honour. I have been at Napoli for many years, the club, players, fans and staff all have faith in me. We must not forget Lorenzo is the captain, but this club is in my heart and I am always pleased to wear the armband.”
