Chelsea have reportedly met the representatives of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, who will not join Juventus as a Matthijs de Ligt replacement.

The centre-back is down to the final year of his contract with the Partenopei and has not yet replied to the final offer of a new deal worth €6m per season.

According to Sportitalia, if the Senegal international does leave Napoli, then he absolutely will not go to Juventus, both for the player not wanting to betray his fans by joining an arch-rival and as the club will never sell to the Bianconeri.

When Gonzalo Higuain made the move to Juve, it was only because they activated the release clause in his contract.

The only other option is therefore to go abroad and Sky Sport Italia claim Koulibaly’s agent Fali Ramadani met with Chelsea representatives over the weekend.

This would make sense, as the Premier League side had originally wanted to sign De Ligt from Juventus, but were superseded by Bayern Munich, who flew in today for face-to-face negotiations.

It is also worth considering the possibility Napoli and Koulibaly will take no action, allowing the contract to run down until June 2023.

Meanwhile, former Napoli goalkeeper David Ospina has officially signed for Al-Nassr as a free agent.

  1. Well well well, I kept saying to the defenders of the PhD realm and advocates of 1Mbps Calcio aka back, back, down, down, that Koulibaly would be a long shot. ADL is not gonna make a Higuain mistake part deux. In any case it is a blessing in disguise as he is still too young for antique Max. Kalidou is also wise. He knows by heading up north to Turin, the racist abuse from the Napoli fans would be amplified ten fold. Chelsea would be a better move. They are now a bigger club in world football and he will find better players in West London. All is not lost for the 7/9 CL runners up winners. Rugani has his chance to be the new Italian Phil Jones. Gatti can wait another 15 years. In the meantime Montero better start cleaning his boots as he will be needed. At 51 years young, he has more than enough experience to satisfy PhD Max.

  2. Respectfully, Lord, please stop posting. It’s getting very tired. You’re not adding anything of worth to the conversation and it’s losing Football-Italia proper viewers and commentators which is going to affect the ability of the site to sustain itself.

To the Football-Italia editors and moderators, please ban Lord Allegri X X X from posting because when nonsense comments and spam are posted in the comments section, it reflects on the quality, credibility and maturity of your viewership. It’s unlikely that a mature, working professional will be writing like that user.

Back to the actual opinions now:

KK to Juventus was never really something that fans of either side were thinking would happen – mainly because of the ties the player has with his club as well as the lack of will from either party to really make it happen. Juve will need KK more if De Ligt really does leave, but if that happens, maybe they would rather turn to younger and more dynamic options in the defense – after all, as good as KK as, he doesn’t seem like a term term anchor for the central defense. Furthermore, Juventus has probably learnt by now that the players who play best at Juve are those that actually want to be at the club rather than those who see it as a stepping stone to somewhere else. Sure, there are some exceptions like Tevez and Ronaldo, but still we only saw their exceptional best in fits and flourishes.

  3. @Please ban Lord Allegri, if you don’t like people having the freedom to express themselves, go to a communist country. See how they will deal with your wokeness and you will be begging to have free speech. I have no opinions on LORD ALLEGRI. He is entitled to his views and he never uses any derogatory language. I admit he can be repetitive but again it is his view.
