Juventus are desperate to beat Liverpool to Teun Koopmeiners in the summer and have taken a key step forward in the race for the Atalanta star.

The 26-year-old Dutch midfielder has grown into one of the most exciting playmakers in Serie A under Gian Piero Gasperini and is ready to make the jump to a big club in the summer, having recently told the media that he’s already made his feelings clear to la Dea.

Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has already started to plan ahead of the summer transfer window and has highlighted Koopmeiners as one of the top targets for the Old Lady, who need to be wise with their investments as a result of their new sustainable direction.

As reported by Tuttosport via TMW, Juventus have taken a step ahead of Liverpool in negotiations for Koopmeiners, giving them a slight edge in the race for the Atalanta playmaker.

The 26-year-old Dutchman is rumoured to have told his agent Bart Baving to find an agreement with the Old Lady and the two parties have found common ground with a salary of around €4.5m net per season.

Juventus now need to find a way to reach an agreement with Atalanta, who value Koopmeiners at no less than €60m, a hefty fee for a more-economically conscious Bianconeri.

Koopmeiners stats

This season, the 26-year-old midfielder has scored 12 goals and provided four assists in 2671 minutes of action across 34 total appearances, being a key creative outlet for Atalanta.
