According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Teun Koopmeiners is open to joining Juventus at the end of the season as he prioritises staying in Serie A over moving abroad.
The Dutchman is one of the most exciting midfielders in Italy’s top flight and has recently signed a new contract with Atalanta until June 2027. La Dea also have an option to extend for a further campaign.
Despite his long-term deal at the Gewiss Stadium, the 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Juventus or Premier League clubs such as Tottenham and Manchester United. Jurgen Klopp is also an admirer of the Dutch midfielder, but with the German coach leaving Liverpool, it remains to be seen if the Reds will try to sign the Atalanta star in the summer.
However, according to Gazzetta, Koopmeiners has prioritised moving to another Serie A club rather than joining a foreign team in the summer, and Juventus are his primary option for next season.
According to the report, Koopmeiners wants to stay in Serie A as long as he’s offered the same conditions as abroad. So, with two similar contract offers, an Italian club will have more chances than one in the Premier League.
This doesn’t mean the 25-year-old will surely move to Turin at the end of the season.
The Bianconeri must sell some of their players to afford his purchase as Atalanta’s asking price is in the region of €60m.
Only the financial power of Premier League clubs would tempt Koopmeiners away from Serie A and Juventus, while the Dutch midfielder remains the Bianconeri’s priority target for next season.
