France CT Didier Deschamps explains he didn’t call Geoffrey Kondogbia because of his “complicated situation” at Inter.
The midfielder arrived at San Siro this summer, for a fee worth up to €40m, but has struggled to nail down a place in the team.
“He’s in a complicated situation with his club,” Deschamps explained at a Press conference to announce his latest squad.

The midfielder arrived at San Siro this summer, for a fee worth up to €40m, but has struggled to nail down a place in the team.
“He’s in a complicated situation with his club,” Deschamps explained at a Press conference to announce his latest squad.
“He’s playing less, but he has a lot of potential and we’re following him. Right now I’ve made other choices.
“He doesn’t play enough, and when he’s come on his level of performance hasn’t been as good as possible. It’s a psychological problem.
“It’s not easy to make a difference in Spain, or in Monaco so I don’t doubt the quality of the player.”
The main focus of the conference was of course the scandal surrounding Karim Benzema and Mathieu Valbuena, with the former charged in relation to alleged blackmail.
“I decided not to call Karim after talking to him on Monday, he’s injured and he’s not available.
“Valbuena? While he’s been performing less for l’OM [Olympique Lyonnais] at the moment, you’ll understand he’s not in the best mental condition. I decided to let him breathe.
“It’s my decision, it’s my job to decide.
“The charges? I don’t know, I haven’t seen the dossier, I’ll let the law do its job.
“I suspect you have a lot of questions outside football, but I won’t answer them. I’m not going to get into speculation, it would be pointless today.”
