The season may well be over for Atalanta defender Sead Kolasinac after tests on the injury sustained against Olympique Marseille.

The centre-back limped off during the opening minutes of the 1-1 Europa League semi-final draw on Thursday evening at the Stade Velodrome.

He had landed awkwardly after a jump and has now been diagnosed with a Grade I lesion of the femoral bicep in the left leg.

This type of injury usually requires at least two to three weeks out, so it will be a struggle for him to fully recover in good time.

Kolasinac setback

Atalanta have a packed fixture list, as they have the second leg of their Europa League semi-final against Marseille on May 9, then the Coppa Italia Final with Juventus on May 15.

They also still have a Serie A game in hand that probably will not be played before June.

Kolasinac has been a regular in the squad since joining as a free agent last summer, making 42 competitive appearances.
