Roma left-back Aleksandar Kolarov has revealed that he’s “not optimistic” about the chances of finishing Serie A by June 30. "We must be rational".

The Serbia international recently extended his deal with the Giallorossi until June 2021 and has played 23 Serie A matches under the reign of Paulo Fonseca at the Olimpico.

But the former Manchester City and Lazio defender has claimed that we need to be realistic when we look at the different hypotheses for a potential conclusion of the current campaign.

But the former Manchester City and Lazio defender has claimed that we need to be realistic when we look at the different hypotheses for a potential conclusion of the current campaign.

Despite the European Championship being postponed until 2021, the defender has claimed he still “hopes” to end the season but insisted that “football is not a priority”.

“Honestly, I don’t know how we can start again in May and finish by June 30,” he told Serbian outlet Sportklub. “I’m not very optimistic, even if I hope so.

“Football is not a priority now; we would like to be back on the pitch as soon as possible but we must be rational.

“Given the situation in Italy, I don’t know how we will be able to conclude everything by June.”
