“Albin Ekdal and Ronaldo Vieira underwent scans today that ruled out muscle tears for both of them,” read a Samp statement.

“The Swede has been diagnosed with two lacerations and bruises around his right knee and a bruised patella, while the Englishman also has bruising to his right knee.”

The former Cagliari midfielder went into more detail after his country’s Euro 2020 qualifier against their Nordic neighbours.

“I have two obvious knee injuries, which opened my knee up a bit,” he told SVT Sport.

“I went to kick and realised something had happened. I was quickly sewn up in two places.

“The wound was open, you could see the flesh and blood. It had to be sewn up immediately… I think I’ll be out for a week or two.”

The pair are expected to miss at least the Blucerchiati’s next game against Milan in Serie A on Saturday.
