Lazio are desperate for a new centre-forward and Klose was one of the names repeatedly associated with them.

Lazio boss Edy Reja was asked last month if he dreamt of having Fiorentina's Alberto Gilardino, Klose or Maxi Lopez of Catania at his disposal next season.

"Players of a certain quality are always welcome and I hope one of these three does arrive," stated the former Napoli tactician.

Klose, who will celebrate his 33rd birthday tomorrow, joined Bayern in 2007 from Werder Bremen.

The centre-forward was a regular scorer on the World Cup stage, netting 14 goals in three tournaments.
