Miroslav Klose is targeting the quarters and a new World Cup scoring record, but warned Germany “can’t underestimate Algeria.”

The Round of 16 tie is on Monday evening at 21.00 UK time (20.00 GMT) in Porto Alegre.

“We mustn’t underestimate the Algerians in any way, as the World Cup really gets going now,” the Lazio striker told Bild.

“We need to be wary, because against the smaller teams even the slightest distraction can mean you’re knocked out.

“If we play with our hearts, then we can go all the way. We’ve got to give everything to the last second.

“The reward that awaits us at the end of that road is fantastic.”

Klose already made history in this tournament, matching Ronaldo’s record of 15 goals in World Cup finals, and is eager to take the top spot by himself.

Having recently renewed his contract with Lazio, Klose will join up with his club teammates for pre-season training in August.
