The German also revealed he watched several videos of both Hodgson and Sacchi’s teams when he was a footballer.
“My former manager Wolfgang Frank, who introduced the ball-orientated defending in Germany, showed us a lot of videos from Arrigo Sacchi, but also Roy Hodgson from his time in Switzerland,” Klopp said.
“He was obviously part of the inventing team of this kind of style. I knew him long before I met him, but when I met him, it was even better, because he is a really, really nice guy."
