“It will be an intense game, let’s say that, because Atalanta are organised with a specific system and a style of football that is very precise,” Klopp told Sky Sport Italia.
“We are quite similar, and even if we’ve been a little different lately, the character of the two teams is similar. It won’t be a slow game, that’s for sure. There will be a lot of sprints, the ball will move very quickly and it’ll be entertaining.”
Gian Piero Gasperini is not holding back, as he starts Papu Gomez with Duvan Zapata and Luis Muriel.
“Muriel and Duvan Zapata are both quick, strong, so we’ll see what happens. If we look at the line-up, I knew two or three of their players a few years ago, but other than them I didn’t. Hans Hateboer was in Holland, Robin Gosens in Germany, from that you can see the project and the incredible scouting work that Atalanta are doing.”
Klopp has never won a game on Italian soil, so is there a reason for that taboo?
“Most of the times, we didn’t play that good, but it has nothing to do with this wonderful country. The longer a run lasts, the more likely it is to come to an end, so we hope to do that tonight.”
