Jurgen Klopp had high praise for Divock Origi, who is set to join Milan once his contract expires with Liverpool.

The 27-year-old Belgian forward is expected to complete his medicals with the Rossoneri at some point after the Champions League final next week, and he’ll sign a four-year contract with the club, worth around €4m net per season plus add-ons. Considering Milan’s lack of attacking options, the arrival of the experienced forward will bring a much needed boost to Stefano Pioli’s squad.

Speaking at a press conference today, Klopp gave his thoughts on Origi and highlighted his importance to Liverpool.

“I expect him to receive a special farewell. He will forever remain a Liverpool legend. It was a joy to work with him. Wherever he goes, he will be successful. Everyone loves him.”

The 27-year-old Origi famously scored the winning goal in Liverpool’s Champions League comeback against Barcelona back in May 2019. He also netted a goal in the final, adding to his impressive CV.

Despite playing a bit-part role at Liverpool, the Belgian forward scored 41 goals in 175 appearances for the club, being a reliable option up front.
