Maurits Kjaergaard underlined RB Salzburg’s ambitions and belief ahead of their must-win Champions League clash with Milan.

The Austrian outfit currently sit third in Group E after five games, one point behind second place Milan. A draw isn’t good enough to take them to the Round of 16, so they’ll need to secure all three points at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza tomorrow to book their spot in the knock-out stages.

Speaking to Der Standard, Kjaergaard discussed the ambitions of RB Salzburg ahead of their trip to Milan.

“Our goal was to still be on the European scene in the spring, the possibility is still there and with a win at the San Siro we would still be in the Champions League.

“We believe in that and we will do everything to reach it, even if we know how difficult it is to beat the Italian champions at home.”

RB Salzburg held Milan to an edgy 1-1 draw in their first meeting this season, with goals from Noah Okafor and Alexis Saelemaekers seeing the teams take a point apiece.

The Austrian side have looked strong this season and currently sit top of the Bundesliga after 14 games, two points ahead of second place Sturm Graz.

Milan are coming off a frustrating loss to Torino, so Stefano Pioli and his squad will be keen to find redemption against RB Salzburg.
