According to multiple reports in Italy, Milan defender Simon Kjaer will undergo knee surgery tomorrow after sustaining a ligament injury against Genoa.

Calciomercato.com and Sportmediaset report the Denmark international damaged the ligaments in his left knee and, therefore, will undergo surgery in Milan tomorrow.

Kjaer was stretched off the pitch after four minutes in Genoa-Milan last night and underwent medical examinations in Milan this morning.

Stefano Pioli admitted being worried by Kjaer’s condition and the player arrived at the Clinica Columbus in Milan on crutches.

According to Calciomercato.com, Kjaer will undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair the damage to his ligaments.

The Rossoneri are likely to provide a fitness update regarding their centre-back in the coming hours.

The Denmark international has recently signed a two-year contract extension with Milan and ranked 18th at the Ballon d’Or on Monday.

Kjaer joined Milan on a permanent transfer from Atalanta in January 2020 and has played 72 games with the Serie A giants.
