Simon Kjaer’s agent has confirmed that the defender will leave Atalanta in January, admitting that “the situation is no longer tenable.”

Kjaer joined Atalanta on deadline day last summer, as a replacement for Martin Skrtel, who lasted less than a month in Bergamo.

However, the Sevilla loanee has played just six times for the Dea and not appeared in a competitive match since October.

“The situation at Atalanta is no longer tenable,” Mikkel Beck told Ekstrabladet.

“The situation at Atalanta is no longer tenable,” Mikkel Beck told Ekstrabladet.

“Unfortunately, the feeling that we all hoped for wasn’t born with the coach and, at this point, it’s better that our roads separate.

“I’m working on finding the perfect club for Simon and I hope to announce something soon.

“There’s great interest in Simon, a player with his CV and career will receive many offers.”

First-team football is particularly important to the Dane, with Euro 2020 just around the corner.
