Kjaer out and Leao also potentially benched for Genoa-Milan

Simon Kjaer is not part of the Milan squad for this evening’s Serie A trip to Genoa, with reports Luka Jovic will start, sending Rafael Leao to the bench.

It kicks off at Marassi at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

The Rossoneri were already going to be without Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Rade Krunic, Ismael Bennacer, Pierre Kalulu and Mattia Caldara.

Now Danish defender Kjaer has been added to the list of absentees, as he has a slight calf issue and will not be risked ahead of international duty.

That means Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori should be confirmed in central defence, but with Alessandro Florenzi coming in at right-back.

Yacine Adli returns in midfield, but the attack is completely revolutionised, with reports not only will Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic be rested, but Rafael Leao too.

That would mean Luka Jovic getting a start, moving Noah Okafor to the wider role he is perhaps more comfortable in than as a centre-forward.

Samuel Chukwueze completes the trident.

Milan squad: Maignan, Sportiello, Mirante; Calabria, Florenzi, Thiaw, Tomori, Pellegrino, Theo Hernandez, Bartesaghi; Musah, Adli, Reijnders, Pobega; Leao, Giroud, Pulisic, Okafor, Chukwueze, Jovic, Romero
