Milan sent a message to Simon Kjaer after his nomination for the Ballon d’Or 2021. ‘For us, you have already won’.
The Dane has been included on the list of the 30 candidates for the Ballon d’Or by France Football, where he’s the only Milan player among some of the best in the world.
The Rossoneri centre-back had a great 2021, when he helped Milan back to Champions League and then guided Denmark to the semi-finals of the European Championship.
The Denmark captain was praised for his actions to help save Christian Eriksen, who collapsed in the opening game of EURO 2020 against Finland, and the Rossoneri commented on the news of the nomination on social media: “For us, you have already won!”.

The obvious bravery and total readiness to potentially save the life of his compatriot, of course, but he also brought authority and solidity to a shaky Milan back line that became the backbone of one of the club’s most successful (game wise) spells in recent years. Deserved nomination but I suspect one of the italians will win for obvious reasons.
Disagree with the nomination. He’s a good defender, good man, and I’m a fan of his, but let’s be serious, he isn’t Ballon d’Or material any more than Tomori is. It feels more like a nod to his actions with Eriksen, rather than for his footballing actions, which makes it feel a bit empty.

That’s such a weird comment. Not only his successes with Milan, but he also captained Denmark to a very impressive Euro semi-final which they only lost in the extra time. Tomori is a very good defender but he wasn’t even included in the England squad. Obviously he isn’t going to be nominated.
By your logic Jorginho shouldn’t be among the top 10. Kjaer had a wonderful season. He absolutely deserves to be among 30 best and most successful footballers of last year.
I do believe that Kjaer deserves this nomination,because he shows a different side of footaball ,a combination of good player and true leader,After all,his behaviour inspires all of us towards a human approach to all aspects of life.
