Milan defender Simon Kjaer has given an update on his recovery from a serious knee injury on his 33rd birthday. ‘I don’t doubt for a second that I will come back stronger.’

The Danish international celebrated his birthday today and spoke to Ekstra Bladet about his progress since tearing his ACL on December 1.

“Everything is on track, the rehabilitation is going well, I am very happy and feel positive about the progress,” said Kjaer.

“Getting back onto the grass at Milanello is always a wonderful sensation. I will soon enter the phase where the knee will allow me to do everything and that’s when I can start really improving physically.

“I don’t doubt for a second that I will come back stronger. I am working on mobility, so the back, ankles, hips, knees, and I am choosing to see this as an opportunity to strengthen my whole body.

“I tell myself, today I have to do better than yesterday.”

Kjaer is not expected to be back playing with Milan until next season.
