Milan defender Simon Kjaer said Denmark’s goal was to reach Wembley but admitted he ‘would be lying if I said that’s enough’.

The captain has impressed for Denmark this summer and was talking to UEFA ahead of the clash with England in the semi-final of EURO 2020.

“Our target was to get to Wembley,” Kjaer told UEFA.com. “I would be lying if I said that is enough for us to have reached the semi-finals.

“Now we think about recovering, because in four days we will have another very important game to play.

“We fought with our teeth and nails. We could have played a better game as we left a little too much initiative to our opponents, but luckily we managed to take a step back and defend ourselves.”

Denmark qualified for the knockout stages with a 4-1 win over Russia in the last game of the group stage, before beating Wales and Czech Republic on their way to Wembley.
