Simon Kjaer has returned to squad training at Milan, ready to return to the pitch after two months out of action.

The 34-year-old Danish centre back featured as a rotation option in the early stages of the season before coming down with muscle fatigue in October. The issue continued to persist and forced him to miss the last six consecutive league outings.

Kjaer’s injury did not come at a good time for Milan, who have been dealing with an injury crisis this term. Malick Thiaw, Pierre Kalulu and Marco Pellegrino are all ruled out of action in defence, severely limiting Stefano Pioli’s options.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Kjaer began working with his teammates at Milanello today, returning to squad training after two months on the sidelines.

Whilst he’s unlikely to start in the coming clash with Monza, the Danish veteran could come off the bench to start building his match fitness up.

Kjaer’s contract expires with Milan at the end of this season and seems unlikely to be renewed, with the veteran defender suffering from numerous injuries in recent seasons.
