Kim Min-jae release clause in Napoli contract

Kim Min-jae had his Napoli medical today and is expected to sign the contract tomorrow, which will include a €45m release clause valid only for clubs outside Italy.

The defender made the transfer from Fenerbahce, as Napoli activated the €19.5m release clause in that contract.

It took several days to negotiate the finer details of personal terms, finally agreeing on a three-year deal that has an option to extend for a further two seasons.

Sky Sport Italia report that there is a release clause in the Napoli contract worth €45m that will be available only for clubs outside of Italy.

That has been a regular occurrence in the Napoli contracts since losing top scorer Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus in 2016 for his €90m clause.

Although the medical tests were performed today at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome, Sky Sport Italia claim Kim won’t put pen to paper until Wednesday morning.

The South Korea international centre-back is the replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly.
