Bayer Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiessling admits it “won’t be easy against a centre-back like Mauricio” for Lazio.

The first leg of the Champions League play-off ended 1-0 for the Aquile and the decider is on Wednesday evening.

“It’s not true to say the defence is Lazio’s weak spot,” Kiessling told BayArena Magazine.

“This is a quality team that proved it could play at a high level, so we must certainly expect a similar performance from them here.

“In recent years we too have grown a great deal in terms of technique and experience, so will try to make that experience count when securing qualification.

“We had our chances in the first leg, above all in the second half. Now we have 90 minutes to overturn the result and score the goals we need.

“It was tough dealing with their centre-backs Stefan de Vrij and Mauricio. Everyone knows I battle for every ball, trying to set up my teammates and jump for headers. It certainly won’t be easy against a centre-back like Mauricio.”
