Former Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira highlighted the poor state of his former club following yesterday’s 1-1 draw with Napoli.

The Bianconeri currently sit three points behind 4th place Atalanta in the Serie A table, and the Bergamo side can extend that gap to six as they have a game in hand. It’s clear that the team have issues in both the midfield and upfront, having only scored 28 goals in the first 20 games of the season.

Speaking on the sidelines at the announcement of the nominees for the FIFA Best Awards 2021, Khedira discussed the state of Juventus and their problems this campaign.

“Two or three years ago Juve changed a bit their idea of football and the players, they made mistakes but now they are trying to recover. They haven’t played badly but they haven’t scored many goals and this is the big problem.

“They lost Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored a lot of goals for the team. There is a completely new squad, with young players, without much experience, there is a lack of balance, I think there are no leaders, except Chiellini and Bonucci, but in midfield there aren’t any.

“They played a good game against Napoli, it’s not a problem of quality but of personality, and I hope they can fix it.”

Juventus next match is against Jose Mourinho’s Roma on Sunday evening, a key game in the race for a top four spot, with the Giallorossi only three points behind the Bianconeri.

Coach Massimiliano Allegri will have to figure out how to solve the team’s attacking woes if he wants to guide the team to the Champions League qualification spots.

  1. Lol, wasn’t Khedira one of the parade of expensive free agent signings that haven’t worked out for Juventus? I feel like his was the one that actually started it all…

  2. Khedira is the beginning of the collapse of juves scary midfield. Took up insane wages so we couldn’t sign anyone else and refused to leave when he was asked to. We’re still suffering Cos of him. He needs to shut his mouth

  3. The amount of scoring chances Khedira had when he was playing would have made him top scorer for the team. Great player who found himself in good positions but had terrible finishing.

  4. @verro rosso:
You can take your “lol” and showe it in your… You clearly don’t know much about football. Sami Khedira was an engine for Juventus‘ football for all the years he was Bianconero. Another key player was Mario Mandzukic. I wish to have them both now, we clearly didn’t struggle that match.
Anyway, mind your own free agents dinosaurs, like Giroud and Ibra, time will tell;)
