Key six months approaches for Milan striker Origi

Divock Origi has failed to make an impact at Milan since his arrival in the summer and the second half of the season will be decisive regarding his future in the Lombardy capital.

The 27-year-old Belgian forward signed for the Rossoneri on a free transfer in July after ending an eight-year spell with Liverpool, adding an interesting option to Stefano Pioli’s frontline. Origi often produced the goods in big moments for the Reds, like his various Champions League strikes, but with Milan he’s failed to reduce the reliance on French veteran Olivier Giroud.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, the Milan staff have come up with a special work plan for Origi, a personalised athletic work schedule to help him regain his form and reach full fitness. Tactical lessons have also been planned, helping them understand what the Belgian needs to improve on.

Pioli, Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara all believe that Origi can make an important impact with the Rossoneri, so they’re expecting a serious response from the 27-year-old in the second half of the season.

At the end of the season, Milan will evaluate Origi’s season and decide what to do with the Belgian forward. If he starts to impress then he’ll remain a regular feature at the club, and if he continues to sink in Lombardy then he could be sold for a quick capital gain.
