Milan

As Milan are linked with more and more midfielders, there are increasing concerns Franck Kessie is on the market, having already rejected an offer from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Ivory Coast international’s contract only runs to the end of this season and director Paolo Maldini confirmed they cannot go beyond the parameters for an extension set by the club owners.

This approach has already seen Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu leave on free transfers, for Paris Saint-Germain and Inter respectively, so losing another key player with no fee would be devastating.

Milan meet with Brest midfielder Faivre’s agents

According to Calciomercato.com, Milan are not against the idea of selling Kessie this summer and would’ve been open to a proposal from Tottenham, but the midfielder turned it down.

The concerns are growing amid Rossoneri fans, because over the last couple of days, they have been linked with more and more midfielders.

The latest talks were held with Brest player Romain Faivre, after Yacine Adli of Bordeaux, while a deal is close to take Tiemoue Bakayoko on loan with option to buy from Chelsea.

7 thought on “Kessie snubs Tottenham, but Milan open to sale?”
  1. Ridiculous!! THE best Milan player for the last 3 seasons bar non (in all round game).

Elliot Management just cashing in on all remaining valuable “stock” before selling the shop!

  2. Lakhdip if that were true Theo would be the first one sold as long as we don’t sell him I’d be quite happy to see bennacer and tonali in starting lineup

  3. If he doesn’t sign an extension, then he’ll have to be sold. They’ve already lost the guts of 100m with Donnarumma and Calhanoglu leaving for free.
Plenty of Serie A’ best players from last season are gone already, and he could be next. Pretty embarrassing mercato so far.

  4. Donnarumma was a special case, he made it impossible to renew. Calha leaving on a free is not ideal either but acceptable. Kessie leaving for free is not acceptable at all. First of all he’s been one of our best and most consistent performers last season, so we should be doing our best to keep him. Then he is definitely valuable on the market, so worst case scenario we should give in to his demands but then sell him as soon as we can, if we really can’t handle his salary.

I’m all for keeping the wages in check, and a sustainable path out of our (former?) poverty. And I do think, if what the papers say about his 7 + 1.5 salary demands is true, then it is indeed excessive. But if we let all our best players go, we end up (remain?) a mid table team. Worse, the mid table teams usually capitalise on their good players, because that’s their strategy. We’re getting sweet F A when our best players leave.

I’ve appreciated Maldini & Co’s hardline stance on the contracts so far, but losing Kessie on a free would be a step too far. Of course, we can only speculate on the whys and wherefores, and I doubt the veracity of most of what I read. I guess we just have to trust Milan know what they’re doing.

  5. He just had one season good, which is past season. He is a solid player, but not more. Better sell him now i guess

  6. @Lakhdip, what coke bottle glasses are you looking through? Kessie has had only ONE really great year, the last. Before that he was as inconsistent as Hakan.
Bennacer, Donnarumma, Ibra, Theo, Calabria and Kjaer have all been more rounded than Kessie.
I wouldn’t want to lose Franck but if you would be happy to pay him 7.5-9M/yr then I am happy we don’t have someone like YOU running AC Milan’s payroll.
