Barcelona coach Xavi has reportedly persuaded Milan midfielder Franck Kessié to snub offers from the Premier League and join the Catalans as a free agent.

The Ivory Coast international refused to put pen to paper on a contract extension with the Rossoneri and is eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club ahead of a free move in the summer.

He has received offers from several clubs in Europe, especially from the Premier League, but according to Calciomercato.com, the 25-year-old is set to join Barcelona. The La Liga giants are finalising the last details with the player’s agent George Atangana.

The report claims that English clubs had offered a higher salary than Barcelona, but Kessié opted to move to Spain after a call from coach Xavi who persuaded him to move to the Nou Camp.

The tradition of a storied club like Barcelona has done the rest and Kessié is now on the verge of finalising his move to Spain. Contacts between the Catalans and the player’s agent will continue today, but Kessié seems to have made up his mind about his next club.

  1. Sad to see him go. I think Milan have been clear. We do not have the cash right now but hang in there things are building. I stand behind Maldini and co. I don’t want a 1 year Milan project which is where we seemed to be after the sale .
We are making good progress, sad to see Kessie won’t be part of that.

    Forza Milan !

  2. His loss!!!
He only had one “a lil above average” season in Milan (2020-2021) the rest was below what’s expected of Milan midfielder
Sanchez Renato is an upgrade trust me even a midfield trio of Bennacer- Tonali- Pobega beats having him on the team 💯
Only regret from Donna, Hakan and now Kessie is not making anything from their departures, outside that, we’re better without them

  3. @Juvenesia

In the end I would rather be considered poor and win the scudetto .

Juve of course will be awarded the PSG of Serie A award, better known as the more money than brains award!

Money can’t always buy love , it does help though.

  4. @Jubenesia oh mind your club changing the Dybala contract to reduce his salary after the previous verbal agreement.. licking their own saliva..

  5. If it is true that barca’s offer is only €0.5 million higher than milan’s offer, then Kessie is nothing more than a turncoat who should be forgotten soonest possible by all milan fans. Milan got him from Atalanta when he was no one and now he joins barca for a slightly higher pay ……

truly milan is much stronger than any one single player …… so let him have fun in catalunya with a team that has become mediocre and weak in the last couple of years ……

  6. Milan has botched renewals in the most recent years. Donna showed his true colours during the first renewal saga, and the second renewal did not start nowhere near soon enough. The same goes for Hakan and Kessie too. In the case of Romagnoli I’m not sure how much he is appreciated most recently, I’m inclined to believe that the leadership wants a different profile for defence. It’s true the economy hasn’t been the greatest of late, however the current management are shrewder and are working their wonders. Milan will be back soon enough to place the others in their shadow. Forza Milan!

  7. Also Barca are the only Spanish team with negative balance on spending. Why are they over paying for Kessie ?

  8. Great player who carried our midfield for 2 years. Sad to see him go but this is becoming very common at Milan. I hope this story is true as I would love to see him at Barca rather than Inter Juve or England.

  9. @Juvenesia. I realize you’re just trolling, but I’ll nevertheless respond with: it’s always easy to spend money when you’re cooking the books. “SUPER LEAGUE NOW”.

  10. It is a shame to see him go as he is a very good player. Milan haven’t been a top European side for about 15 years – when Kessie was 10. Milan’s glory days were before he was born. Barcelona’s great years are relatively sooner – in Kessie’s living memory. Unfortunately that is the way it is. The young generation were not ‘dreaming’ as boys of playing for Milan, Inter or Juventus. But for Barcelona, Real Madrid , Chelsea (let’s see when that ends up) and now even Man effing City.

  11. I think Milan have money, but they have made it clear they won’t offer anyone more than they deserve. Kessié doesn’t not deserve more than 5, 6m a year max. And that is the absolute maximum. I’m with Maldini and the management. No club in the world would offer him more salary if they had to also pay for the transfer fee, so he had to be a snake and let his contracts run down to get more.

  12. Leaving as an Italian Champion with Milan will be the best way to go.
Kessie sorting out his future should make him motivated enough to up his performances.

  13. @Acemilan Juventus wage bill is 166m gross. PSG 372m Gross. Juve are the biggest club in Italy & because of that we can afford to give higher wages. PSG are sponsoring themself with a corrupt deal thats inflated beyond belief. Juve are also sponsoring ourself with the Jeep deal but that is a deal thats in line with what we would get from any other shirt sponsor deal. Juve are just a bigger club with more fans worldwide. Milan is turning into a club on par with Roma. Roma wage bill is 81m gross. Milan 81m gross. Teams in Serie A needs to build new stadiums so you can catch up. As a strong competetive Serie A is good for all of us

  14. @Dan please tell me how much Barca got for Messi? Real got for Ramos? Man City got for Kun? oh, FREE!

So we’re not the only club. It’s not great but Welcome to 21st Century football.
