Former Milan midfielder Franck Kessié could leave Barcelona in January and according to reports in Spain, his priority is to return to Italy if he walks out of Camp Nou.

The Ivory Coast International completed a free transfer to Barcelona at the end of his contract in June but is struggling with playing time in his first few months with the Catalans.

Spanish journalist Gerard Romero claims Kessié’s representative has recently met club directors to discuss his client’s future. Transfer expert Matteo Moretto adds that the midfielder’s priority is to return to Italy if he leaves Barcelona in January.

Moretto confirms interest from Napoli and Inter, who had been linked with a January move for Kessié in the last few weeks.

The Italian transfer expert claims Kessié could also receive offers from the Premier League.

Barcelona are currently not considering parting ways with the former Milan and Atalanta midfielder but could allow him to leave for a suitable offer.

It remains to be seen if any of the two Serie A giants will match Barcelona’s demands, given that they appear only to be interested in a loan move with an option to buy.

The midfielder’s salary is also an issue, given that Kessié earns €6m per season in Spain.
