Ex-Milan star Franck Kessié returns to San Siro tonight for his 17th game against Inter tonight, the first one as a Barcelona player.

The Ivory Coast international joined the Catalans as a free agent in the summer after his contract with Milan expired.

He is available for tonight’s Champions League clash against Inter, although he is not expected to start.

Kessié has played 16 games against Inter in his career, winning four, drawing three and losing nine. He has never scored against the Nerazzurri who are the team he has faced the most times in his career.

The 25-year-old was close to joining the Benamata from Atalanta in 2017, but the Rossoneri eventually reached an agreement with La Dea, signing him on loan with an obligation to buy for €32m.

Kessié was called ‘The President’ at Milan and it was the player himself to explain his nickname in an interview with Sky Sport Italia in February 2021.

“Once I parked my car in [Ivan] Gazidis’ place in Milanello,” he said.

“They told me I couldn’t do it and I replied: ‘What’s the problem? I am the new Milan CEO’. I like jokes, of course I know I am not the President.”

Barcelona seem to have enjoyed Kessié’s nickname as the La Liga giants continue to call him ‘The President’ on social media.

Kessié has scored one goal in seven appearances with the Catalans this season, starting three times.

He managed 27 goals in 223 games at Milan, winning one Supercup and one Serie A title during his time at the Stadio Meazza.
