Milan met with Franck Kessie’s agent today and multiple sources suggest they took a positive step towards a contract extension.

This is a matter of some urgency, as his contract only runs to June 2022, and the Rossoneri already lost Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu as free agents this summer.

George Atangana was at the Milan headquarters this afternoon for a summit with director Ricky Massara and sources including Sky Sport Italia, Milannews.it and more are all confident it went well.

There is no deal yet, largely because Kessie is still in Tokyo at the Olympics with the Ivory Coast team, but all parties are feeling more confident.

Another meeting is expected soon to get down to the details, Milan offering a reported €5.5m per season plus bonuses on a four-year deal.

Kessie is asking for €6m per season in wages, so they are not too far from meeting on common ground to sign the paperwork.
