Franck Kessie was absent from squad training today ahead of Milan’s derby against Inter this weekend.

The 25-year-old Ivorian midfielder’s adventure in the Africa Cup of Nations ended on Wednesday this week after Egypt won the Round of 16 clash. The player had the cane to stay in Africa for a few days to rest and relax, and he was expected to return to Milan last night.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Kessie did not return yesterday and so was absent from training today. He will be available tomorrow, a day later than planned, and there’s no physical reasons for his absence today.

The Ivorian midfielder has fully recovered from the blow to the ribs suffered in the Round of 16 clash against Egypt and he’s expected to start in what could be his last Derby della Madonnina for Milan in his career.

Kessie’s contract expires with the Rossoneri at the end of the season and he is not set to renew, wanting wages that were considered excessive by the club’s management.

  1. This is disappointing and I hate to say it somewhat unprofessional. Maybe there is more to it, sometimes the media can put a twist in when it really isn’t there. lol

  2. Sad to see Milan has become a feeder club and they are not even able to cash in.

Dollarumma, Hakan and now Kessie + probably Romagnoli for free…

  3. @edwardo , just to be clear. Many Milan fans were happy to see Hakan go. Inter will figure it out soon. Gigio was a sad moment but from pure biz prospective MM is a better alternative. At least he was good enough to not join another Serie A team .
Kessie’s chapter is not yet written, we will see how it ends. The club has taken a stand right of wrong. I am sure they have their reasons.

  4. Eduardo VINCERE SENZA RUBARE

Every Italian team is a feeder club for richer European teams for the right price.
