Kepa Arrizabalaga admits ‘I’m not proud’ of his on-pitch feud with ex-Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri but insists the case was closed ‘the next day’.

Kepa refused to come off in last season’s EFL Cup Final between Chelsea and Manchester City, with the goalkeeper appearing to disobey Sarri’s orders.

However, the 24-year-old insists they parted on ‘good’ terms and praised the now-Juventus Coach for quickly putting the controversy behind him.

However, the 24-year-old insists they parted on ‘good’ terms and praised the now-Juventus Coach for quickly putting the controversy behind him.

“I’m not proud of what happened. I lived in a storm that week,” he told reporters.

“It was a situation that I hadn’t lived and that came to me in a flash. Everything went very fast, with many keystrokes.

“I apologised, he explained to me what he had felt. Internally, it was finished the next day.

“It was an unpleasant situation, but we left in a good way and from there we made a great end of the season.

“From now I will ask the manager [questions] just in the half-time of the extra-time!”

Kepa started Spain’s 2-1 win against Romania in Euro 2020 qualifying on Thursday evening.
