Kepa Arrizabalaga of Chelsea is fast becoming the favourite to join Napoli on loan, even ready to take a pay cut so he can play regularly.

The Partenopei are looking for a big name shot-stopper who can either act as support for Alex Meret or more likely challenge him for the gloves the way David Ospina did last season.

Keylor Navas was an early option after PSG confirmed Gianluigi Donnarumma is the first-choice goalkeeper this season, but his salary is proving a problem.

According to Calciomercato.com, Kepa is the new favourite because he is even prepared to take a pay cut in order to get the move and play regularly in Serie A and the Champions League.

His current wages are €9m per season, so even with Chelsea covering half the salary during the loan period, he will still need to take a pay cut.

Napoli are reportedly only prepared to pay €3m per season to the 27-year-old Spain international.

Other alternatives for the Partenopei include Barcelona’s Neto and Eintracht Frankfurt veteran Kevin Trapp.

4 thought on “Kepa could take pay cut for Napoli loan from Chelsea”
  1. Juve should be signing this man. He could oust the current No 1 in no time and provide a solid base at the back for years!

  2. ‘Spain international’? The last time kepa played a competitive game for spain, it was back in late November of 2019!

nine million a season for a barely mediocre keeper who’s signing will go down as one of the worst pieces of business by any team in any era in history!
