Mario Kempes ‘never had doubts’ about Inter striker Lautaro Martinez and believes that a new phase will begin for the Argentinean star after his goal against Liverpool.

El Toro scored four goals in the last two games across all competitions but hadn’t scored before in 2022.

“Did somebody had doubts about Lautaro? I was sure that he would have returned to his level, he is a top striker,” Kempes told La Gazzetta dello Sport

“The trust of the coach was crucial. Lautaro always played, if he hadn’t done it, he could have been demoralized. With Inzaghi, the opposite happened. The substitution in the Champions League may have been a bit awkward, but he’s always had trust in Lautaro. At the same time, El Toro has never lowered the guard.

To score in one of the most fascinating stadiums in the world is something that remains inside and gives motivation. A new phase begins now, Lautaro can reach every target. I liked every Inter player against Liverpool, not just Lautaro. I saw a smart team with great players. Lautaro’s goal was not casual. It was the reward for everyone’s work, then there was the red card and everything became more complicated.”

  1. One goal against an under-par Liverpool does not erase the fact that Martinez is a front-runner who goes missing in the big games. Even in the second leg against Liverpool, besides the goal he did absolutely nothing.

  2. Under par liverpool is the liverpool b team who play in the last group games where Pool literally dont care even if they lose.

what do you mean “besides the goal”? It is The goal that made inter won in anfield. Had The goal happened again, the game would continue to extra time
