Seydou Keita admits he left Roma “because Rudi Garcia was sacked”.

The midfielder left the Giallorossi this summer at the end of his contract, signing for Qatari side El Jaish.



“[Sabri] Lamouchi asked me to come to Al Jaish at the start of my experience with Roma,” Keita told Shoof Alkass.

“Rudi Garcia didn’t want me to leave though. This year Xavi called me and asked me to come and I accepted because Garcia was sacked at Roma.

“To come here I rejected dozens of offers from other clubs.

“The Italian League is really all tactics, it’s very difficult. I have good memories and beautiful friendships in Rome.

“When my contract expired at Barcelona, Roma were the first team to call me. They were very professional.”
