Seydou Keita has taken to Twitter to explain the issue with Real Madrid’s Pepe, whilst apologising for his attitude.
The pair did not shake hands in the pre-match line-up, whilst Keita was then caught on camera throwing a water bottle at the Portugal international.
Speculation was that Pepe had spat at Keita during the melee and that the conflict dated back to a clash during Keita’s time at Barcelona.
The 34-year-old has now looked to clarify the situation through his Twitter account.
“1 He calls me a monkey during Madrid Barca 2 I did not shake his hand 3 He spits on me after I throw a bottle. I am sorry for my attitude,” Keita has written.
