Keita charged with hit-and-run

Bologna full-back Cheick Keita, on loan from Birmingham City, has been charged with hit-and-run after a 12-year-old girl was struck.

The incident occurred after training on Thursday afternoon, caused by the player’s Mercedes.

The car struck the 12-year-old girl in Via Emilia Ponente and then sped off, only to return 15 minutes later with Keita at the wheel.

According to the police report, the 21-year-old player gave several different versions of events, first claiming he was driving, then that he was on board as a passenger and finally that he had simply loaned the car to friends.

The girl has been released from hospital and given a prognosis of 15 days for a full recovery.
