Rick Karsdorp has now returned to the Italian capital but will have to wait until next week for his decisive meeting with Roma.

The 27-year-old Dutch full back did not respond to Jose Mourinho’s call up earlier this week and missed the mid-season training retreat to Japan. Karsdorp seems destined to leave Roma in the upcoming January transfer window following the complete relationship breakdown with the Portuguese coach, who indirectly called him out to the media earlier this month.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Karsdorp has now made his way back to the Italian capital following his extended holiday and will be assessed by Roma’s medical staff, who will investigate the psychological issues expressed by the player.

No Giallorossi directors are still in Rome and so the 27-year-old will need to wait until the conclusion of Roma’s tour in Japan, which draws to a close on Tuesday next week.

As things stand, Karsdorp looks set to depart Roma in January, either on loan or in a definitive deal.
