Rick Karsdorp has revealed that ‘I’d like to try my luck again’ for Roma once he returns from Feyenoord this summer.

Injuries and a loss of form saw Karsdorp play just 15 times for Roma between 2017 and 2019, and he was sent back to Feyenoord on a season-long loan.

“I still have two years left on my contract with Roma,” the right-back told Algemeen Dagblad.

“We’ll see what happens this summer. I’d like to try my luck again.

“Italians live football in a completely different way. It’s always a matter of tactics. For a defender, almost nothing is more important than respecting their position.

“Sometimes we trained without a ball for hours. It’s all a bit more individualistic than in Netherlands.”

The 25-year-old made 24 appearances for the Dutch side in 2019-20, before coronavirus brought the Erevidisie to an early end.

“The season certainly didn’t end like I dreamed it would. I’d regained my starting position, I was feeling better and better and Feyenoord were also doing well.

“We’ll never know how far we could’ve really gone. My objective was to play 40 games. Obviously I hadn’t considered coronavirus.

“I wanted to get back to the levels that I’d reached here before. After the winter break I’d come very close.

“Then I wanted to win the Dutch Cup. Either way, the world suddenly looks very different. No-one could’ve imagined that it would be because of a virus.”
