Roma flew out to Portugal today for their warm weather training camp, including outcast Rick Karsdorp and injured Georginio Wijnaldum.

The Giallorossi will be working in the Algarve until December 22 and have three friendly tests lined up against Cadiz, Casa Pia and RKC Waalwijk.

It is hoped this will get them into shape for when Serie A resumes from January 4.

Spotted at the airport were Wijnaldum and Karsdorp, who were major doubts to make the journey for various reasons.

Wijnaldum is still working his way back to fitness after fracturing his leg in a training ground accident, while Karsdorp had been frozen out by coach Jose Mourinho for a bad ‘attitude’ in the draw with Sassuolo.

Karsdorp was not expected to ever play for Roma again and remains on the transfer market, but has followed orders to attend this training camp.

Bryan Cristante has a large strapping on his left hand following surgery to reduce a fracture, while Nicola Zalewski has returned from the World Cup with Poland.

Rui Patricio will join up with the rest of the squad in Portugal.
